A Pie and a Pint at Corridor Brewery

I can't think of a better way to beat the Monday blues than with pizza and beer. Luckily, Corridor Brewery & Provisions in Lakeview has a new Monday night special where you can get a whole pizza and a whole pint of beer for only $14 from 5-10pm.

This was my third time at Corridor, a project by DryHop Brewery, since they opened back in October 2015. They normally feature six or seven beers including Porters, IPAs and Pale Ales along with a rotating seasonal selection. They also offer beer flights so you can sample six beers. This photo was from my first visit to Corridor:

I met my sister after work so that we could take advantage of this deal. Plus, I really didn't feel like making dinner when I got home anyway, so it was a win-win.

To start, I ordered the Wizard Fight which is a Lactose IPA with a citrus taste. Lindsey had the Marry a Bear a Belgian Pale Ale.

We struggled with the fact that we would only order one pizza for the both of us, so we ordered the pretzel and the french fries to start. The pretzel was kind of small to be shared, but it was good. It came with a spicy brown mustard and a Belgian beer cheese for dipping. The french fries were delicious, sort of resemble McDonald's fries but ten times better. Those came with a really good mustard herb mayo, which we found ourselves dipping everything in.

Since I am Vegetarian and Lindsey is extremely picky, we ordered the only vegetarian pizza option which was the Mushroom, Leek and Goat Cheese pizza with arugula.

The pizza was pretty good. The crust was thin and crunchy but chewy at the same time. The goat cheese added a nice tang and the arugula gave some much needed freshness and a bit of a peppery taste.

We decided later that we probably should have ordered the pizza without the mushrooms since we ended up picking all of them off (we're just not mushroom fans). Over all the pizza was good. We originally wanted to try the Mexican Chorizo and Brussel Sprout pizza with Manchego cheese and caramelized onions, but the kitchen wasn't able to make it without the chorizo.

This place is normally pretty crowded on the weekends, but I've never had to wait more than twenty minutes for a table. I would recommend going on Monday for dinner. We arrived around six and there were only a few full tables, but people did start to fill up the place shortly after. It's a great place to hang with friends or to take a date for a beer flight.
