#KECtravels: Laguna Beach - Day Two

We woke up pretty early on Saturday because our bodies hadn't yet adjusted to the two hour time change. Urth Caffe was on the top of my list of places to eat so we went for breakfast.

We had to stand in a line out the door and place our order at the counter. Then we were given a number and the servers would bring our food out to our table.

It was a cloudy chilly morning with a little bit of misty rain so we were hoping to get a table inside but they were all taken. We ended up sitting on the deck but there were umbrellas and heat lamps to help keep us warm and dry.

Our drinks came out first. Kristen ordered an iced coffee drink, Mary had an iced tea and I had the honey vanilla latte. I love latte art, so that's really the reason I ordered it. But it was really good and strong.

I'm not a big breakfast person so I decided just to get a plain bagel and a granola yogurt parfait. The parfait was good but had too much honey on top making it a little too watery. But the berries were fresh and the granola was crunchy and sweet.

Mary ordered the egg white and spinach panini and Kristen had the eggs benedict.

The service wasn't that great. Mary ended up getting her food first, mine came a bit later and almost ten minutes after that Kristen's food finally came out. That was a little disappointing but the food was good.

After we were full from breakfast, we went back to the hotel to get the car and drive up to Alta Laguna Park. We had to drive up hill through the gorgeous neighborhoods with giant houses. There were a lot of steep hills and winding roads, but it was really cool.

We arrived at the park and got to the beginning of the trail. I immediately realized how high up we really were. It was still pretty foggy from the morning rain, so it was a little difficult to get a clear view of the landscape.

I didn't think the hike would be strenuous at all, but as we were going down a long stretch of downhill trail, we saw people huffing and puffing on their way up and knew it was going to be a difficult hike back.

The trails seemed never ending and there were multiple different ways you could go.

This particular spot is called Top of the World and offers a really amazing view of Laguna. I wished it was a little clearer out, but we could still see pretty far.

We saw some cacti and succulents which were pretty cool.

Towards the end of our hike, it started to get warmer and a little clearer. We were very proud of ourselves for doing something active!

We drove back down through the hills and returned the car to our hotel and got ready for the beach.

I couldn't resist taking pictures! It was so beautiful.

The water was way too cold so we just laid in the sand for a while. We were probably only there for about 20 minutes when we decided to go back to the pool and drink.

We grabbed our free wine from the lobby and started getting ready for our super exciting dinner at SUR. SUR is the restaurant from the TV show Vanderpump Rules on Bravo that we all love. Lisa Vanderpump from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and is part owner of the restaurant.

I stalked the restaurant's Instagram to see if any of the cast members were at the restaurant the day before which would better our chances of seeing one of them.

We were so excited when we arrived. We walked in and saw Lauren, a minor person on the show, as the hostess.

We also saw the second owners, Nathalie and Guillermo at the front bar.

We saw the famous front bar where a lot of the show's filming takes place and they were actually playing the show on the TV behind the bar.

We ordered drinks by the bar as we waited for our table. I had the Pineapple Mojito and the girls had a Flirtini.

The restaurant was pretty and had multiple small rooms with seating areas. We were sat right before our reservation time at 9pm in the back corner of one of the rooms. It was kind of a bummer because we wanted to be in the middle of the action, not tucked away in a corner.

Right away we saw Lisa's son, Max, serving a table nearby. We also saw Peter walking around. We weren't able to get a picture with Max at SUR but Mary went to find Peter and took a selfie with him.

We were mostly excited to try the fried goat cheese balls. They came three per order and we knew already that wouldn't be enough for us, so we ordered two.

They were actually really, really good. The goat cheese was super creamy and warm and the breading was smooth and crispy. I didn't care too much for the cucumber and carrot slaw because it was hard to eat.

Mary ordered the vegetarian abborio rice with vegetables. It tasted like Chinese food and the portion was pretty large.

Kristen ordered the crispy chicken with mashed potatoes and broccoli. She liked the chicken but the potatoes and broccoli were bland.

I wasn't very hungry so I just ordered a Greek salad. The dressing was really light and tangy and the feta cheese tasted really fresh.

We saw a couple of other tables get birthday desserts with a giant sparkler in it while Peter and Max sang "happy birthday" to them, so Mary told our waitress that it was my birthday. Technically it was... Three days before. Still counts! It was disappointing when she brought the dessert menu instead so we would have to pay for it anyway. It was equally disappointing that only two people came to sing "happy birthday" to me, one of them being a busboy. But the cake came out with a fun sparkler which made it feel special.

The cake was really good too. It had a rich chocolate mousse inside and was topped with strawberries.

The food overall was decent, but nothing spectacular, especially for the price. But we were certainly paying for the experience, which was fun!

After dinner we walked a couple blocks over to Lisa's other restaurant, Pump. This is more of a LGBT eccentric restaurant, but that was okay with us. We walked in and it was gorgeous. There were trees on the inside with lanterns and lights hanging from them.

The bar was beautiful too. It was filled with huge vases of fresh flowers and lanterns and really, really attractive bartenders.

We ordered three Pumptinis which had Vanderpump vodka, lime and grapefruit juice, and muddled raspberries with a sugar rim. They were pretty good and strong. And also very pretty and pink.

We looked over to the DJ booth in the corner and saw James! I mean, DJ James Kennedy. He is known as the douche loser on the show and he's hilarious without meaning to be. We went over to him and asked for a picture which he was willing to take.

Soon after we saw Max walk in with a girl. He stood right next to us at the bar, so we went over to him and asked for a picture. He was so nice! He didn't seem bothered to talk to us or arrogant in any way. He told us they filmed today; unfortunately, we missed all of the action.

Then we just hung out by the bar for a while and I was looking toward the door. Ken walked in with Giggy and Muhammad Hadid! If there was anyone I needed to see, it was definitely Giggy. They just walked in, Ken waved and then walked back out. It happened so fast that we didn't get a chance to meet him.

Minutes later while at the corner of the bar, Sheana walked right by us with her mom! It was so crazy and we didn't realize it until was gone. We tried to follow her but couldn't find her anywhere. It was really surreal to see people you watch on TV in real life.

After our drinks we left since we had an hour and a half drive back to our hotel. It was definitely well worth it and a fun experience!
